Bird watching

I went to see some birds after an invitation from a friend who kept birds. So many people gathered together watching their birds; they watched intensely. At times they murmured to friends beside them, the other said something and they would shake or note their heads. This time, I was puzzled as the cages were small and perhaps there were more than hundreds of cages hung just below the ceiling.

I was wondering how they appreciate the birds. What are those criteria and how do they train their birds.

I always thought that birds should not be caged and we should enjoy them in the wild. Similarly, I appreciate the microworld of the insects and spiders, but I never want to keep them in a terrarium. It is too limiting to the critters. I appreciate freedom and they too should be free to roam as they so wish. So how would birds in captivity be appreciated? Or perhaps it is just human vanity that we kept birds in cages.

Here, perhaps, I could refer back to the way I appreciate the insects, through their form, their motion, their behavior and their habitat. We appreciate the birds by their form. Their feathers have to be immaculate, well groom, colorful, clean, emitting a slight shine, etc. The way the birds leap, flap their wings, and importantly, their singing becomes the measure of well kept birds. Birds' perch and posture, is also a sign of pride and stature, the same that we would find in a person of elegance.
Bird felt sick too. However, we may not have a specialist doctor that offers their service to treat birds.

Bird food is important in keeping the bird healthy and singing well. Bird has to be fed on dry insects, selected fruits and live animals. They require a well balanced staple of food. Investment on food may amount to hundreds of dollar depending on the owner.
Bird has to take bath and sun too. Birds has to be led into a special cage for bathing the bird and the owner will have to take some time to train the bird to take bath. They may have to be left in the sun to keep their body dry and clean.

Different cages are developed for different species of birds.

A well decorated habitat also adds to the pride of the owner. The small little feeding porcelain and fruit holders become important in creating an aesthetically pleasing cage for the birds and the owner.
